Review|Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Racing sweeps Zhuzhou season opener

Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Racing swept TCR Asia season opener at Zhuzhou International Circuit as reigning champion Zhang Zhiqiang dominated Race 1 and Sunny Wong won Race 2.

After the morning rain, Race 1 started on a damp track, but most drivers put on slicks. Pole sitter Zhang Zhiqiang quickly established his advantage from teammates David Zhu and Sunny Wong.

MG XPOWER driver Martin Cao who opted for different tyre strategy, with slicks in front and wets at rear of his brand new MG5 XPOWER TCR, gained lots of positions at the early stage. He made up his way to second position after overtook Sunny Wong and David Zhu.

Nonetheless, Zhang Zhiqiang was too far away from Martin Cao then with the asphalt drying up, the MG XPOWER driver was losing speed slowly.

At Race 2, the track was getting even more wet. Zhang Zhiqiang and Sunny Wong made quick progress from the reversed grid, they already took 1-2 for the team by the end of Lap 3, while another potentially podium contender David Zhu was caught up by first corner incident.

Zhang Zhiqiang led all the way till last lap, when Sunny Wong made his move and snatched the lead from his teammate. Sunny Wong won the race by only 1.493s and its his first win with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR. Zhang Zhiqiang was the runner-up and Am class winner Yan Chuang from FANCY took third as Lynk & Co went 1-2-3.
