Zhang Zhiqiang and Zhang Zhendong Shared Victories at Tianma
Zhang Zhiqiang from Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Racing took a dominant victory in the Race 1 of TCR Asia/China Round 5 at Shanghai Tianma Circuit, which was his 5th win of the season. Zhang Zhendong won another race of the day for MG XPOWER.
Zhang Zhiqiang started from pole position in Race 1 and claimed the lead into first corner, while his teammate also in title rival Ma Qinghua failed to start from 2nd place then droped down behind.
Zhang Zhiqiang was leading all the way, crossing the finishing line with great wininng margin that more than 50 seconds. The rest of the podium belonged to two MG drivers Zhang Zhendong and Cao Hongwei.
The results was enough for Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Racing to snatch the TCR Asia team’s title. While MG XPOWER also secured the team’s title of TCR China already.
In Race 2，pole sitter Zhang Zhendong losed his lead to Sunny Wong at the start. But Zhang Zhendong managed to retake the first place before escaped from intense battles which his teammates and all 3 Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Racing drivers involved with. He took the victory by 7.591 seconds. Ma Qinghua beated Cao Hongwei and finished 2nd place. Back to the podium made Ma Qinghua closer to points leader Zhang Zhiqiang.
The TCR China season will continue on Sunday, the finale of TCR Asia will back to Macau Guia Street Circuit on November 1
